Edward F. Maurina III

A computer enthusiast since the age of nine, he turned an avocation into a vocation. Today, he is the co-owner and lead-designer at Roaming Gamer, LLC. (an independent game studio and developer of educational products.)

Ed started on the road to becoming a Roaming Gamer in 1996. Between then and now, he has achieved many personal goals and stayed deeply involved in the indie game development movement.

Some of his important personal achievements are:

1996 .. 2008 – Maintained Hall Of Worlds web-site, a game developers site devoted to indie gamers.

1996 .. 2000 – Co-developed two game engine prototypes and learned an important lesson:

You can make a game engine or you can make a game, but you can’t do both.

2001 .. Present – Worked with indies around the world as an associate at GarageGames (GG) by meeting online and by lecturing at several annual GG conferences.

2002 .. 2006 – Wrote and published “The Game Programmer’s Guide to Torque”

2007 – Wrote Indie Games chapter for “The Book of Games Volume 2″.

2006 .. 2008 – Wrote and published “Multiplayer Gaming and Engine Coding for the Torque Game Engine”

2008 – Shutdown “Hall Of Worlds, LLC.” and started “Roaming Gamer, LLC.”

Present Day – The journey continues…
