Steven,
I think as long as you're willing to put in some time learning to use the tools, the scripting language, and a little bit about various xCode + iPhone SDK + iT2D odds-n-ends you'll be OK.

As far as I am concerned, the Torque tools (including iT2D) maintain a great balance between power/features and the investment required to use them.

As far as sharing lessons learned, I'd be glad to. However, be aware that Torque has a great community and very active forums.

Hi there,

I am a new indie developer and I am thinking of getting the itorque2d to do a simple shoot em up game and hopefully in the near future create a simple MMO for the iphone/ipad. I was just wondering how hard is it to pick up itorque?

I am a seasoned c++ programmer but have been thrown into the web-developement industry for the past 6 years, so I'm a little rusty with my C......

Would be cool if we could share stuff that we learn on itorque (when I get mine and if it's good). :)

Kind regards,
Steven

Try Jing for screencasting. It's free/cheap and I have found it very reliable and easy to use. It does screenshots, too.

I also have to add another comment and say the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of divergent options for tower development. Taken to an extreme you could have a single base tower type and everything evolves from there. I think that's too much though; you have to keep things fairly simple so as not to overwhelm or take too much management time during game play. Maybe each tower type can diverge once or twice around the second or third upgrade, or there is a single special ability option that can be purchased for one level of the upgrade cycle.
